Last summer, I drew a satirical comic about British politics for the annual, self-published WIP Comics anthology. It was lauchned on Kickstarter in the autumn and made a decent splash, selling over 200 copies.
(The other day, I was in a local comic shop with a friend and they had a second-hand copy on the shelf. That was a pretty thrilling moment, seeing my own work out in the wild!)
The comic, titled (no) change for you, is a series of short gag comics documenting a fictional UK election campaign. Less than a year after I wrote it, the UK Conservative Party announced a snap election and look to be on their way out of the door very, very soon. With less than a week left on the clock, I decided to serialise the full comic on my Instagram so people can enjoy a few giggles before the changing of the guard: www.instagram.com/andrewattwell
I’ll be posting two or so a day, with the final strip to go up around the same time as the results of the election are announced. Feel free to follow along on Instagram, but if you don’t like Meta all up in your devices (which I completely understand1), I’ll be posting it right here on my site once I’ve finished the Instagram run next week.
Follow along to the end, see if I called it right, and make sure you go out and vote on 4th July!
(If you’re feeling extra generous, you can support the WIP project by buying a copy of the anthology on their online store – there are still a few physical copies left.)
- I have to say, I’m not very happy with Meta’s imminent move, on top of all their other bullshit, to announce they’ll be sucking up all of the content we’ve ever posted on their platform into their AI model, in a further shameless disregard for users and our wishes on how we want our work to be used. I don’t know what this means for my future relationship with the platform, but I am on a couple of others that are more respectful to users.)
